Here’s a list of the motorcycle gear I own:

🤩 Need-to-Have’s

Jacket

Most people recommend getting a summer jacket and layering up with a non-armored winter jacket if you want to keep your wardrobe minimal.

For this jacket, I would highly recommend replacing the armor with CE level 2 padding, as the padding in this jacket is really cheap.

(CE levels 1 and 2 are the standards that motorcycle racers use; 2 is the higher standard.)

Pants

Similarly, I would highly recommend replacing the armor in these pants with these.

Gloves

If you don’t get these, please, for the sake of the protection of the tiny bones in your wrists, get a pair with Knox SPS palm sliders. I fell off my bike a few months ago and having these gloves saved my hands.

Helmet

For the sake of your chin and your eyeballs, get a full face helmet with an eye shield. If you don’t own one, I would recommend this one. I made the mistake of getting a black one; I would recommend a white one because they’re significantly more visible.

If you don’t go with a helmet like this, I would recommend looking for one that is meets the SNELL or ECE safety standards, both of which are much more rigorous than the DOT standards.

Alternatively, the Bell Qualifier is a good option that meets ECE standards.

Shoes

Admittedly, these are what I did the least amount of research on but they seemed fine for me because I’m mainly using my bike on-road / in the city.
